The sun is shining, the weather is sweet and everyone at Marriner Yarns has got that summer feeling.

The chances are you’re just like us; having a few family and friends over for a BBQ, doing a spot of gardening or simply working on that tan.¬†However for some of you out there, the Great British Heat Wave is seen as a chance to demonstrate your knitting prowess in it’s most exhibitionist and ninja stealth form – yarn bombing!

We never fail to be amazed at the talent, hard work and gumption that has gone into some of the fabulous examples that have been spotted throughout the country. We’ve marvelled at the explosion of colour outside Cheltenham Hospital and been spellbound at the 12ft (yes 12ft!) crocheted spider’s web, under a Bristol railway bridge. Even today we’ve been astounded by the emergence of a huge knitted guitar in Surrey!

New balls please…that’s new balls of yarn

It’s that time of year again; the sun is shining, strawberries and cream are at the ready and Murray Mountain’s population is growing by the second – it’s Wimbledon! But as the above picture would suggest, the action on centre court has proved to be incidental for this knitting enthusiast.

Long regarded as one of the hottest tickets in town, tennis fans the world over go to extraordinary lengths to get their hands on tickets to watch the world’s greatest go head-to-head, but that didn’t stop this mystery knitter taking along her needles to centre court last year.
